How does the PgMP certification relate to the PMP certification?

The PgMP is a higher-level credential for program managers, while the PMP is for project managers. The PgMP focuses on managing multiple, related projects as a single program to achieve strategic objectives, whereas the PMP focuses on the management of individual projects. They are separate certifications with different experience requirements.

Is there a hands-on or lab component in the PgMP exam?

No. The PgMP exam is a multiple-choice examination. It does not include a hands-on or lab-based component.

What is the retake policy if I fail the PgMP exam?

PMI's retake policy allows you to take the exam up to three times within a 12-month eligibility period. If you fail, you must wait at least 30 days before your second attempt and another 90 days before your third attempt.

What job roles does the PgMP credential map to?

The PgMP is designed for senior program managers, portfolio managers, and directors of program management who are responsible for overseeing multiple projects and aligning them with organizational strategy.

Can I recertify by passing a different PMI exam?

No. The PgMP certification is maintained by earning Professional Development Units (PDUs). Passing another PMI exam does not automatically renew the PgMP credential.
