About this certification
The GIAC Cloud Forensics Responder (GCFR) certification validates a practitioner's ability to track and respond to incidents across the three major cloud providers: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. It is the first certification in the industry to demonstrate that the holder has the knowledge necessary to respond and investigate across all three major cloud providers, going beyond cloud security configuration, automation, or detection to focus on what happens after an incident has occurred.
GCFR certification holders are prepared to manage rapidly changing enterprise cloud environments, employing vital log collection and interpretation skills. The certification covers log generation, collection, storage, and retention in cloud environments; identification of malicious and anomalous activity affecting cloud resources; and extraction of data from cloud environments for forensic investigations. The exam is delivered in the CyberLive format, which uses performance-based challenges in realistic lab environments to validate real-world capability.

The GCFR certification is designed for professionals who are responsible for incident response and forensic investigation in cloud environments. This includes Incident Response Team members, SOC analysts, threat hunters, federal agents and law enforcement professionals, experienced digital forensic analysts, and SANS DFIR alumni looking to round out their forensic skills. Candidates should have a strong foundation in digital forensics and incident response, as well as familiarity with cloud computing concepts and the major cloud providers.
